Will Mother Nature Affect Scheduling Your Roofing Job?

Let’s say you need or want to replace your roof…

And of course, you’d like us to get it done as soon as possible.

What happens next?

Well, first we look at our current projects and workload schedule, estimate how long your project should take, and find the first available block of time on our calendar that your roofing job will fit into.

Then you’ll be notified of the tentative date.

This tentative date is based on several factors such as our current workload, material availability, local permitting, insurance, and yep, probably the most important factor – the weather.

You see, we can usually control the timing of most things needed for a successful roof job…

But it’s impossible to control Mother Nature

We would like to stay on schedule for every project, but extreme weather is an unknown. That’s why the date we schedule is tentative, not definite.

If the weather cooperates in the weeks before, and on your scheduled date, everybody is happy.

However, if there’s been a lot of rain, snow, ice, wind, or extreme frigid or hot temperatures… then everyone’s scheduled jobs get pushed out.

The more bad weather, the further jobs are delayed.

Why?

Because we want you and our workers to be safe, we want to make sure your roof is done correctly so it lasts a very long time, and we don’t want to damage your home or new roofing materials.

Keep in mind, working on a roof is inherently dangerous, even in the best weather conditions.

Rain and ice makes a roof very slippery and dangerous to work on. When it’s extremely cold and/or windy, wind chills make it difficult for people to work, and shingles won’t seal properly, can easily crack, causing all sorts of future problems.

Note**
Yes – we do lots of successful roofing jobs in the winter months as long as it’s not abnormally frigid. The shingles may just take a bit longer than normal to seal.

When it’s super hot, usually above 85-90 degrees, asphalt shingles are very soft and easily prone to damage when handling them. Simply walking on them scuffs and bruises them, and are easily torn apart while installing.

Not to mention that when it’s that hot, the temperature on the roof is probably 20 degrees warmer on the roof. Heatstroke is a definite possibility.

You can be assured we do the best we can, based on the weather conditions at the time because we don’t want our customers to wait any longer than necessary.

But yeah, sometimes delays happen

We will, however, notify you as soon as we know if your roofing job has to be rescheduled. And yes, there are exceptions and emergencies that arise, and we handle those on a case-by-case basis.

So now that you better understand our scheduling process, if yours does get bumped down the road a bit because of bad weather, please be patient… We’ll be doing our best to get to you.
